Fail, Fail Again, Fail Better

Above all, it is experience that allows humans to grow, not just physically, but internally.

By gaining experience, we can grow our spirituality more than before. This experience is essential to develop wisdom, and it is especially from the experience of failure that we gain many important lessons and acquire wisdom within ourselves.

If you love reading, not only can you stand on the shoulders of others and see further, but you can also enjoy borrowed wisdom, even if it’s something you’ve never experienced before, and without paying the cost of failure.

This borrowed wisdom is given to you by your predecessors who think it will be useful to you who have no experience. The predecessors who give it to you may have suffered failures that were worth sacrificing half their own lives to gain that wisdom. But you can receive valuable wisdom, even if it is borrowed, without making that sacrifice. The most beneficial thing for you is that you still have reserve capacity, because you didn’t make such a big sacrifice to get it. Perhaps you can reach even greater heights than your predecessors have reached. That is a great advantage for us humans who have been given language, or for individuals who were born later.

Of course, there are times in this world when you try and fail no matter how many times you try, and there are times when you are the only one who does not achieve the same results as everyone else. Even if you are given wisdom by your predecessors, in some cases you may not have the personality to use it to its full potential. Everyone has their own compatibility. In those times, even if you can’t do it better than others, why not try again without turning your back on it? While there are certainly experiences that yield great wisdom after failure, there are also experiences that leave nothing but failure. However, by repeating that failure over and over again, you will unexpectedly be able to fail a little better than before.

You may fail many times, and drop down every time. But by repeating it over and over, you will be able to drop down better than before.

Those who have more wisdom may be able to get through life more efficiently, but going further and having more are just means to an end, not the direct goal of life. If you want to have flavor in your life, even if you don’t value efficiency, even if you can’t make progress and the scenery around you doesn’t change, you might be able to notice the difference in the color of the scenery every day. You might be able to find fun in failing a little better than the last time.

However, I secretly suspect that Samuel Beckett himself was so overconfident that he believed he would succeed the next time, and continued to fail without learning his lesson.
